When I was little..I thought the steering wheel made the car go

I knew nothing of the gas pedal. I thought the car moved forward because of the steering wheel. Of course I knew the car turned based on the steering wheel, but I thought it also went forward when you had your hands on the wheel. So when my dad let go of the steering wheel and the car kept going, I was amazed!! I just sat there and thought "The car is still moving!! How is he doing that??"
